International Hockey School in Amqui
More than 2330 young hockey players, of which over 500 from France and all over Europe, have attended this school in the past 10 years. The experienced training staff (20 persons working for the training program) is very much appreciated by the hockey players and their families.
The training staff offers a 200 years old hockey training experince and the professionalism of this team results in a dynamic and unique training method.
In order to offer the children the best, the management of the IHS (International Hockey School) applies a ratio of 1 coach for 6 players.
The IHS takes advantage of the great Amqui sports facilities. In addition to the "Carrefour sportif" (skating rink), the young players have acess to numerous sports settings and to a great display of services: 4 tennis courts, 4 gymnasiums, 2 soccer fields, 1 indoor pool, classrooms for the theoretical classes, video games, video room...
Each player will participate every day to a 3 hours practice session (including the training for power - skating, power - shooting, stick handling, and 2hours 1/2 of specific training for forward and defence players) and will play in 1 game per week. The student will attend classes regarding hygiene, nutrition, prevention against drugs, equipment, first aids...Each player will receive a personal evaluation at the end of the school period.
Goaltenders will also take advantage of a special training program. They will play with people of similar age under the management of specialized coaches (1 coach for 4 goalies). They will also participate in a 2 hours ½ specific training during the week.
The young hockey players are divided into 4 level sub-groups.In this way, players can work in optimal conditions and it allows them to meet their individual needs.
Lunches will be taken at the restaurant in a school close to the ice skating rink and the sports facilities.
As with all Sports Global Tours programs, players will stay in local host families. The QPHS will do its best to match European players with young Quebecers players of similar age.
NB: The programs offered by the Hockey Schools remain the School Management property. Sports Global Tours does not manage the program and the organization within the training periods, it only takes care of arranging transportation .and accomodation, and offers support in communicating with the Hockey Schools. |
